Taiichi Ono (the father of Toyota) used what he called the ‘5 whys’ to solve almost any problem. For example many music teachers struggle to make a good income from teaching so lets ask the 5 whys;
1. Why are you not earning $100k+ from music?
A. I don’t charge enough per hour for my time.
2. Why don’t you charge more?
A. Because people won’t pay more $70 per hour for my time.
3.Why won’t they pay more than $70 per hour.
A. Because its the going rate for private lessons.
4. Why don’t you teach in groups?
A. I am uncomfortable with group teaching.
5. Why are you uncomfortable?
A. I guess I just don’t know how.

Solution: Learn to group teach.
