Choose your audience

The next step is to find the right people to target. You will want to use the following steps as a guide. To learn more visit How to target audiences with Facebook ads. When targeting students locally select your suburb and no more than 10 miles radius in most cases unless you are in a rural area where people are willing to travel. You don't want to waste money on ads that are seen by people who are unlikely to drive across town for a guitar lesson. Better to invest more those closer to your studio.

Ad types

Facebook have many different types of ads. To learn more visit the Facebook Ads Guide. To keep it simple we will only look at a few types of ads here based on what we have found to be effective. This doesn't mean the ads types aren't effective. It just means we have done enough testing to endorse with any level of confidence.

Create a Facebook Lead Ad

To learn how to place a Facebook lead ad watch this video but use the settings below. You can also check the Facebook Lead Ads webpage.

Campaign and ad sets

The first step is understanding the 3 levels. Campaigns, Ad Sets and Ads. A campaign contains your ads which are also grouped into Ad Sets. By clicking on a specific campaign you can see the Ad Sets within the campaign. You can then adjust the settings such as Status, Name and Budget.  Click on the name of the Ad Set to see the individual ads. At this stage all you need to do is create an ad.

Set up your ad

To create an ad go to ‘Create Ad’.

Add an image or two

You will need to upload at least one pic for your ad. Choosing more than one pic will allow Facebook to test different pics for performance. This idea is good but note some pics might generate more clicks but less actual inquiries so when testing pics I prefer to do one at a time to see how many actual inquiries I get. Facebook does not allow more than 20% text in your ad so combining an eye catching pic with a small amount of text is best. Below is an example which we can make for your location on request.
